Sekhmet was a Goddess, the female counterpart of Ptah. Lion headed in most depictions, she was associated with fires and plagues. Her image on the walls of Sahure's temple was venerated as a source of healing in some eras. In some depictions she wore a sun disk on her head, and in this form she was a warlike manifestation of the sun, causing flames to devour the enemies of Egypt. [1]
