The Outline

The Assignment: Make an outline of your paper.

I. Procedure

A. Reread notes
B. Arrange notes by topic

1. Arrange topics into sub-topics
2. Arrange sub-topics so they flow
C. Your notes should now be in the order of your outline
D.  Aren't you glad you used a word processor?
II. Outline rules
A. You do not need to use complete sentences
B. Do not use first person
C. Numbering and lettering
1. Use the following order:
a) Capital Roman Numerals for Major Topics
b) Capital Letters for Sub-topics
c) Arabic numbers for points within a sub-topic
d) lower-case letters for specific items
(1) guess what this is
(2) and this too
(a) and this
(b) and this?
(i) this?
(ii) this,
(a) the end
(b) of the road
2. Always have at least two points for each level of the outline you reach.
