I feel it is because the circles
could still be seen every year because of their altered lighter
coloring during the Spring and Summer and their darker greener
colors during the Fall and Winter that it became necessary for
the Dept. Of Parks to bury them with hopes to kill them all off
altogether.
How ever because of the seeding
of the altered grasses which grow not only lighter but lower
to the ground than the other grasses the lawn was being taken
over by these altered plants which are the lighter patches of
grasses which can be seen about the lawn in these pictures.
By keeping this lawn in such a
horrendous condition over the last nine years any change to this
lawn will be welcomed and unchallenged by those including myself
that use this park.
Lincoln Terrace Park is a small
park about one and a quarter blocks and it is divided by Buffalo
Ave which turns into Rockaway Parkway when it reaches the south
side of the park.
There has been new Tennis courts
built, new playgrounds, new hand ball courts, new basket ball
court, gymnast areas, new chess tables added, new drinking fountains,
and benches and bleachers added, why has this lawn been allowed
to decay and go to weed in such a manner?
A point that occurred to me that
went unnoticed at that time was during the early nineties when
the circles were still new the street that divided the park was
closed off and police cars were parked there over night for some
reason.
"True this was during the
time of the Crown Heights turmoil but was their another reason
these cars were parked there?" I must ask.
For when I asked the officers of
the patrol car about the activities in the park I was told that
the park was under three precincts 69th, 70th, and the 71th so
it was never patrolled for no one knew which one of the three
held jurisdiction over it.
