Shadows

He pulled her off the street
Him, a devil,
in men's clothing.
Hating her, punishing her,
for some crime she comitted,
only in his mind.

He created for her,
a prison, a jar,
closed tightly with no holes
left to breathe
fresh air.

He made her fear
shadows on the wall,
noises on the street,
Darkness,
when it came calling.

Constantly she fought him,
In her mind, her soul,
trying to banish him,
to the depths of hell,
of fire.

Struggling hard,
longing for her freedom
from him.

Finally she won,
her fight, her struggle,
with her family's love.
No longer does she fear,
things that once frightened her..
shadows, noises,
the night.
