A CHRISTMAS STORY

The girls' tearful cries
mellowed down to quiet sniffles
as Mariah hummed
a gentle tune to them.

As the tune faded
Amanda looked up at Pooh
with her beautiful, soulful eyes,
and without a word spoken
he heard her say,
"I need a hug
from you too Pooh."

Pooh winced a deep sigh
and moved over to hug
Amanda and Samantha
with his soft furry arms.

"You two...
are truly precious.
I sincerely hope
you can keep alive
the beautiful child
inside you...
even as you grow older."

"Yes, please." added Mariah.
"Stay loving and playful
and ALWAYS be yourself
and don't be afraid
to be different."

Samantha sighed deeply
and with all her strength
gave one last big bear hug
to Mariah.

A soft whisper
came from her lips,
"Thank you...
thank you for caring
...Mariah."

Mariah whispered back,
"Oh Samantha,
you deserve it,
believe me."
