SEMESTER THREE, FEBRUARY 2002
First, There are many amusement places, such as movie theaters, theaters, game arcades, bowling centers, karaoke, and so on. There are a lot of movie theaters or theaters. For example, "Koma Theater" is the largest theater in Kabuki-cho. Also, "Shinjuku Mirano-za" is another large movie theater in Kabuki-cho. It has a seating capacity of 1,288. This Shinjuku Tokyou Building includes a bowling center. Thus, we can enjoy seeing movies or bowling there. Another thing is there are a great number of game arcades, which have video games, music games, and a Japanese game called "UFO catcher." We can play all kinds of games. The other thing is there is a large quantity of karaoke shops. These are cheaper than other places, and they are open all night. Therefore, we can take pleasure in Kabuki-cho every day.
Secondly, there are many Japanese food shops that we call "Izakayas," fast food shops, and Chinese restaurants. An Izakaya is a Japanese style bar. Some Japanese people go to Izakayas every night. They talk about themselves with drinking and eating whenever they finish their work or need to lower their stress. We often go to Izakayas, especially Ikyu, because we can easily understand this location. It's located in the second basement floor of a famous cinema in Kabuki-cho. Also, fast food shops are very useful for us. It's because we can study homework with friends until 11:00pm. We recommend the Mac Donald's because Kabuki-cho is always crowded, but this Mac Donald's has larger floors than other fast food shops. It's located next to the Don Quihote. In addition to food shops, there are many Chinese restaurants. Those shops also sell Chinese noodle soup, fried rice, "gyouza" (dumplings), and so on. We often go to Muteki-ya. It sells also Chinese noodle soup. This is very good! We like it! It's located along the Yaskuni Street next to the Yasukuni Shrine.
Thirdly, we will tell you about Don Quihote. It's a famous discount shop in Kabuki-cho. Because they sell their commodities with unbelievable prices, people want to go shopping there. After their shopping, they go back with satisfied smiles. They sell a lot of kinds of commodities, such as audios, videoes, mobile phones, foods, drinks, medicines, cometics, and so on. We can buy a lot of things in this place. Sometimes, TV programs televise them because the Japanese economy is in a hard depression now, but Don Quihote isn't effected so much. Don Quihote got famous by TV effects. Also, comedians often mention it in their stories, and Hitoshi Matsumoto, one of the top Japanese comedians often goes there because of the prices. He is known as a very stingy comedian.
In brief, for these three reasons, we can take pleasure in Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku. If you go there, we want you to enjoy or need something there.
We will introduce about East Shinjuku, which is especially for young people. Many people use the East Gates of Shinjuku Station. There are many shops and buildings, so it is always crowded. Therefore, we would like to describe several places' good points.
First, the building standing diagonally opposite is Kinokuniya bookstore. It is the one of biggest bookstores. There are many kinds of books such as treatises, comics, texts, magazines, foreign books, etc... If you want to get something to read, you should go there, and you can find what you want.
Next to Kinokuniya bookstore, there is a beautiful building. This building's sixth floor is a blood donation center. We often go there because it is good to do for people's welfare. After we give blood donations, we can eat some ice cream and doughnuts. In addition, this place is very comfortable, so we study and talk here after blood donations. There are two ways to make a blood donation. One is to donate our blood 200 or 400cc; the other is to donate only blood plasma and platelet. We always do the latter; it's smaller damage for one's body. If you have time, I recommend you to donate your blood there.
In brief,... (TO BE CONTINUED)

There are demonstration corners in that neighboring area. The FM studio is in front of the right hand area. On the 6th floor and 5th floor is OSHMAN'S. When one is guided from the left in a clockwise rotation, on the 6th floor, there are mountain bikes in the left hand front and bags and outdoor tools in the back. Then there are cash registers, and it is in the skateboard, the wet suit and the order of body boards on the right. There are snow boards a little in the left. GAP is in the 1st floor and basement. On the first floor, the left side has Ladies wear, the right side has Mens wear viewed from the entrance. The Basement has childrens wear. The left is boys wear, and the right is girls wear. This building has many stores. Therefore, what I really want to suggest is TOWER RECORDS. It is stocked with music of the place that it doesn't really get tiring here. Because of it, I recommend this building.
Takashimaya is a big department store, and this is 14 stories high. There are women's dresses and men's wear on the 1st to 8th floors. There are many brands shops, such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, and so on. On the 9th floor, the stores sell baby and children's wear, and there is also a stationery store. On the 10th and 11th floors, there are domestic articles, furniture, and optician stores. Also, there is a dentist's office, so Takashimaya is visited not only for shopping but also for medical assistance. On the 12th to 14th floors, there are restaurants. There are various kinds of restaurants, such as Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and Western foods. You can eat reasonably priced foods at lunch time. For example, you can eat a green salad, soup, soft drinks, and pasta for only 980 yen at one Italian restaurant. Also, there is a CD store, HMV, and a television station. The television station, Bs-i Times Square Studio broadcasts live from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on weekdays. IMAX is also on the 12th floor, and this is a big theater, and it sometimes shows 3D movies, so if you visit Takashimaya, please visit IMAX. Finally, I recommend you to enjoy the view from Takashimaya. On the 12th floor, you can go on the terrace and see the beautiful view. Takashimaya is a really fashionable department store, so please visit and enjoy there!
One of the theme places in South Shinjuku is Tokyu Hands. It's a creative life store and located in between the Takashimaya Department Store and the Kinokuniya Bookstore. Tokyu Hands also connects with these two stores by special bridges. It's sure that almost all materials and tools are there. The store will be able to supply all we expect. Also, you can enjoy there even if you don't have something to buy. For example, you can get party goods in the many goods on the first floor if you need that. There are many varieties of party utensils, such as crackers, costumes, etc. There you will be excited in the light mood because its customers are usually enjoying shopping. On other floors, you can find kinds of professional tools. The store sells wood materials on the 6th story and artists'supplies on the seventh story. On the fifth floor are also tools, such as screwdrivers, saws, and power tools. On those floors, you probably feel a little peculiar atmosphere from the customers. It is because they will be artists or technicians who have their own particular mood. In addition, you can buy furniture or kitchen goods, laundry and cleaning supplies or travel goods on each floor of the store. Therefore, you can get anything if you go to there. The store has parking and delivery service, of course. The store also has its own workshops on almost each floor, and it may help you to make or specialize in something. Be careful, however, Tokyu Hands is always crowded on weekends although it gives you valuable, important time.
Kinokuniya is a big book store. It is near Tokyu Hands, so we can easily go there from Tokyu Hands. This store has many and various books. This store has seven floors. When you go through the entrance, you can find a checkout counter and TV game books. On the left side, you can find comic books. The 1st floor is a place that young people can enjoy. On the 2nd floor, the left side has cooking books, the middle has reference books and the right side has picture books across from a checkout counter. On the 3rd floor, the left side has magazines, the middle has literary books and new books, and the right side has an exhibition by the checkout counter. The magazine department is crowded with young people. On the 4th floor, the left side has new books, the middle side has pocketbooks and the right side has map and travel books by the checkout counter. When I passed the travel books department, I was urged to want to travel to foreign places. On the 5th floor, the left side has business books, law books and accessory books, the middle has medicine books, engineering books, building books and new books, and the right side has computer books across from the checkout counter. This floor tempts me to sleep because these books are very difficult for me! On the 6th floor the left side has western books, the middle has language books, and the right side has art books by the checkout counter. I think the western books department is helpful for our studies. Finally, on the 7th floor is an exhibition hall. Then each floor has a bathroom, but be careful! The men's rooms are on the 3rd and 5th floors, and the ladies are on the 2nd, 4th and 6th floors. Kinokuniya is a good place to look for books you want to get!
In short, South Shinjuku is a famous place in Tokyo because it has some department stores and other buildings for shopping. Therefore, everyone can enjoy South Shinjuku!
First, West Shinjuku has a big bus terminal. It is located near Shinjuku Station. When you go out of the ticket gates and go along the street, you will see the bus terminal on the left. On the right corner and in front of the bus terminal, there is the gBig Eyeh monument. It will be a good landmark for you. There is a busy place, so be careful there!
Second, West Shinjuk and Shinjuku Station are connected by the moving walkways. They are long ones. On the way, there are many restaurants in the building on the right. For example, there is Mcdonalds, Lion, Royal Host, cafes, and so on. Also, it has a lot of foods, such as Italian, Japanese, and American food,etc.. Maybe you will be able to find your favorite food there!
Third, there are good places for couples. They are near the station and around the Shinjuku Mitsui Building 55 Square. So many lights are illuminated there at night! It is so beautiful! Probably, women will be glad and like you more than now if you take them there. Would you go there once?
Fourth, there are two main cafes in West Shinjuku. STARBUCKS COFFEE and ROYAL DALI. Both cafes have good atmospheres to feel relaxed. STARBUCKS COFFEE is a really popular café all over the world. There are a lot of kinds of coffee and cakes with odors around the café. ROYAL DALI has an adult atmosphere. We can eat some British food as a smorgasbord. The tables are big and the chairs are very soft, so it becomes us better, too. Both cafes are really comfortable.
Fifth, Tocho is an office building of the government for citizens. There are many departments, such as welfare, finance, and hygiene departments. Also, it offers us some institutions for free. The observatories are located in the first government office buildings on the forty-fifth floor, and they are divided between south and north. The southern observatory closes at 5:30 p.m., and the northern one closes at 10:00p.m. You can go there by a special elevator, and it rises up to 202 meters. At the top of the observatory, you can view Tokyo's landscape. Therefore, Tocho has not only departments, but it is also fun to enjoy.
In conclusion, West Shinjuku is unfamiliar to visitors for fun, but it is a center of business. In addition, many people go there to enjoy themselves. We recommend you to go and enjoy yourself there!
