In many periods of History there was perhaps
an exaggeration of prostitutes' moral deprecation. Or some deficiency of
classification concerning the women and men who prostituted themselves
sexually.
Sexual activity is normal among individuals
of the same species and different sex. It enables the perpetuation of that
species, with physical pleasure during sexual intercourse and its preliminaries.
It's not wise to consider that activity as
sinful. But it's also an exaggeration to present it as the centre of interest
in any species.
On the human level, there are different sexual
behaviours according to the people's culture and the spiritual level of
the individual. One admits that the more spiritual a man is, the more easily
he will control his sexual passions. Control here doesn't have a castrating
meaning, it means to orient his activity rationally.
Social organization is done in such a way
that educators in general, specially parents, assume more and more responsibility
in the sexual area, conscious that they should not forget, avoid and be
ashamed or shy to orient their children about this. The teaching syllabuses
are starting to make a constructive approach to themes about sex. Some
media are now dismystifying situations and clarifying their audience constructively.
The appearance of illnesses that can be sexually transmitted, namely AIDS,
constitutes a natural brake to deviating behaviours.
We seem to be able to see sexual activity,
more and more, as a complement of a friendly relationship between a man
and a woman. Therefore, it is natural to put the psychological relationship
in a primary position, as well as the communion of ideas, the definition
of common aims, and mutual support throughout the physical lifetime.
In this way, a normal man will be considered,
more and more, the one who has sexual relations with just one partner,
naturally from a different sex. Sexual activity, with several partners
or as an individual (i.e. masturbation) will be looked down on and will
be avoided.
Some rare beings are so strongly focused on
the spiritual life that they seem to have no sexual needs. But, because
those cases are so rare, probably the chastity vows in some religious organizations
have a tendency to be eliminated, and instead a healthy sexual intimacy
with only one partner, preferably throughout the whole earthly life, is
encouraged.
Those who deviate from this kind of behaviour
could be considered abnormal or prostitutes. Not only those who sell sex,
but all who enter the business with money or with some other type of material
interest. The one who buys sex will be considered even more of a prostitute
than the one who takes advantage of economic, social, psychological or
other kind of weakness.
However, with the increasing number of normal
people, there will be a tendency to create organizations to support weak
or perverted people, in order to enlighten them and awake their capacity
for self-fulfilment, self-improvement and their effective social reinstatement.
