In recent years, the notions of war and peace
have filled an important space in our daily life. In the media, in our
conversation, in our worries.
War of words, tactical war, conventional war,
psychological war, chemical war, imminent war, regional war, saint war,
atomic war, world war, war. And peace, period of peace, desire for peace,
nobel peace prize, necessity of peace, lasting peace.
Curiously, the words that have been said or
written and the pictures that have been watched, have a lot more to do
with war. This might reveal a desire, large or small, or a fear, enormous
or tiny. Anyway, it seems that our attention has been more turned to war
than to peace.
And should it be like this? Maybe not. We
know now that our thought has a strong power. It is capable of great performances
when directed in a positive sense, but it can also cause great catastrophes
when directed negatively.
In this case, we have millions of people thinking,
a little bit everywhere, about war, when we should concentrate our attention
on peace.
Many people, of course, have a certain difficulty
in finding a connection between what they (mere citizens) think and what
is happening on the other side of the world. They forget that humanity
is moved by a great force, which is the result of the small forces that
each of us constitute.
Many of us wish and demand that the governors
from our country and from all the others can find peaceful and democratic
solutions for their countries. And sometimes we criticise these and other
leaders, because they can’t find the “obvious” ways to peace.
However, if we, far from the world problems,
can’t keep our thoughts, daily and permanently turned to peace, how can
we demand this from those who are busy with problems of much greater extent
and, many times, so difficult to solve?
Each thing in its place. That’s it. We (mere
citizens) can’t all have a decisive word in the solution of international
crisis. No one is expecting it. What is expected, and above all wished,
is that everyone can contribute with his share.
And, in the case of world peace, it is certainly
important that each one can keep his desire for peace, twenty-four hours
a day. By means of thoughts, words and actions.
Starting with inner peace. Everyone should
meet himself, synchronize with Nature and find the happiness possible on
this planet.
We should work hard for peace at home. Avoid
fighting with those we love, allow their difference and their mistakes,
even before we ask (or demand!) them to tolerate us.
We should try to live together peacefully
at work, in the organizations we belong to, on public transports, in the
streets. Respecting always and, therefore, winning the right to be respected.
If, a little bit all around the world, all
people, or at least the great majority, concentrate their attention on
peace, trying to build it moment by moment, it will obviously be found.
