Sixth Labor: Scaring the Birds with the Brazen Beaks
After a little time, Hercules journied to the town of Stymphalea. Eurystheus had commanded him to kill the birds which had bronze beaks and that wee devouring unfortunate men. In this lake which was not fra from the town of Stymphalea, was where the irds were living. The lake however was not consisted out of water but out of mud/mire; Hercules therefore was not able to ???? nor to proceed with a boat nor to approach them.
Then after a great part of the day had been consumed in vain, Hercules hurried to Vulcan and asked for help by him. Vulcan gave rattles to Hercules which he had made out of bronze. From this Hercules made a rattling bow and rushed to the terrifing birds. However he hastened to them, he pierced through a great number of them by means of his arrows.
