In 1998 I was an engineering student at UMIST. Even then,
I knew I wasn't cut out for soldering circuit boards but I
couldn't get any site to publish my poetry and song lyrics so
I started my own under the name of "TheBadPoet".
That was way back before Yahoo bought Geocities. Way back when sites were grouped into neighbourhoods (mine was Athens) and you only got 8 MB of storage.
The site has come a long way. From a few short poems, I now have fully arranged songs with lyrics, sketches, a page about my Zoid toy collection and more.
The site's design hasn't always been simple and bandwith friendly. In the early days, every link had an image button, liberal use of graphics and assorted chrome and flash. These days I tend to strip the decor down to the bare minimum, emphasizing ease of use and maintenance.
