BOOKS-
Discussions of various fantasy-fiction authors:
#8- Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
I know that this duo practically created the huge realm of Krynn for TSR, but I have really only read a small sample of their TSR works to date, even though I know they'll make for some good reading someday.
What placed Weis and Hickman on my Top Ten list was their seven-novel non-TSR series called The Death Gate Cycle. I was impressed by how revolutionary the novels are compared to your average, run-of-the-mill fantasy book. The first four installments each concentrate on a particular world, with the final trilogy about how those worlds connect and interact with each other. I wasn't all that impressed when I read the first four, but the way they lead into the last three is *really* cool. Plus the all of the covers look pretty neat... :-)
I have also placed Margaret Weis herself as an 8a to my list, because there is a set of four novels called The Star of the Guardians that she wrote on her own which deserve notice as a separate source of credit for getting her onto my list.
There are numerous TSR novels
within the Dragonlance series authored by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
However, if you plan to read them, don't be a fool like me and read The
Legends trilogy first, because it is last in chronological order.
