News from St. James

Here are selected articles from our church Journal showing what has been going on. As time passes older events will be removed and hopefully new links added.

The Youth club caters for children between about 10 and 14. They meet on Friday nights during term-time in church. They all went on a summer trip to Flamingoland Theme park. I was among the adults co-opted to help and had to pay for the privilege. Actually I quite enjoyed it. Here is a report on Flamingoland.

Some members of various local churches put on a mystery play of the story of Noah for the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival in the summer. One of Noah's daughters has contributed her experiences of Noah.

I do not know the next author but he is in the Territorial Army (National Guard in American) serving in Croatia. Martin the vicar had a letter from him and we now present our very own letter from Bosnia. This link will definitely be kept live for some time.

Pontins is a holiday camp; that is a sort of upmarket Stalug Luft XXXXV that you have to pay to get into. I hear that they are now pretty upmarket although they had a bad reputation; the old Pwllheli site literally blew down a few years back and they had to rebuild it. I have lost this ladies' name but she regularly goes to a Christian spring camp at Pontins and has sent in her experiences of spring worship.

Some of our congregation made a pilgrimage to Santiago the shrine of a our patron Saint in September '98. Read about their journey by bike to Santiago.
