Air faeries are called pixies or sylphs and can be seen or felt in a warm summer breeze or in the powerful roar of a summer thunderstorm. They are part of the creative force of the air and their work results in the tiniest of breezes to the mightiest of tornadoes. They work to stimulate inspiration and creativity. They are beings of wide-open spaces and the air. They are responsible for the myths of "angels", the winged protectors of the Garden of Eden.
They are transparent and elusive. They assist in the growth of flowers, tree and other flora. They help carry over the dead, especially children. Sylphs dwell in the air, in the clouds, and at the tops of mountain peaks. They model snowflakes and gather clouds in cooperation with Undines. The Muses of the Greeks are believed to be the Sylphs. They gather around the mind of the poet, artist, and musician to inspire beauty and ease of communication. Their temperament is mirthful, changeable and eccentric.
