Did you consider these concerns for your high school student? If they test each high school year (even if dual enrolled) then you have a record to show any future employer or school that they did indeed attend homeschooling for all 4 years of high school... the public understands test scores taken for the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades. Also the letter you get from Cathy Pascoe may be used if you need a letter from a teacher. If your teen decides to stop homeschooling please be aware that they may no longer qualify under your HEALTH INSURANCE, AUTO INSURANCE, and any benefits your employer might provide, as well as being your DEPENDENT for your IRS forms if they are not "enrolled in education".
Do People really ask these questions? Yes and if you think about it we are all volunteers. Some of us field these same questions DAILY, everyday of the year. We want to be able to help as many people as we can HOWEVER everyone should realize that WE ARE VOLUNTEERS and if each phone call takes 30 minutes to repeat these questions times 300 days that equals 150 hours each year that we are not teaching our children. When my 3 year old answered the phone one day he repeated the entire 30 minutes to the caller without missing a beat nor did they know he was 3!....That is when we made the homeschool tape for those that would like to same information. We would like to be personable to all and have time to share other information also, make friends and go places. Some people, who have volunteered to field the phone calls to spread the load, are a blessing, while many say "I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME" without even a thank you for your time as if we were being paid, rather than valued as a VOLUNTEER, to give out this information. Some of us LOVE HOMESCHOOLING so MUCH that we are willing to help MENTOR others in the hope that they will one day set up JUST ONE FIELD TRIP and invite US! If you are doing the right thing then you have nothing to worry about.....no one is coming after you to throw you in jail. BE BLESSED AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN.

Remember if you are a Senior it is not required that you test HOWEVER if you DO test then you have a record for your ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS /9-12/ that NO ONE WOULD QUESTION! if you have completed high school or not.
DUAL ENROLLED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS MAY BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TESTING IN ONE DAY==== CHECK WITH MISS CATHY
Also make note that once your student "graduates" your HEALTH AND CAR INSURANCES MAY NOT COVER THEM UNLESS THEY ATTEND COLLEGE OR TRADE SCHOOL.

There is NO MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT TO TEST with Independent Thinkers.

Concerned because of the JUNE late test time and the "Deadline" of July 1 letter you get every year? NO need to be overly concerned. We have a good relationship with the counties and they understand testing. They just wish to be informed that you intend to test in June and they will mark your folders and await the resulting letter. We wish to keep everyone in the loop and show that we are responsible homeschoolers. You may contact them directly by phone.
If you would like your county notified then call and say: 1. you are taking the test with Independent Thinkers on-----date 2. you will be sent the results in about 6 weeks and will forward your letter to them at that time 3. that they would please make note of this in your families folder. get the persons name and make note of the date for your records.
It's that easy!
