Attorney Steiber Addresses Forfeit

To the Editors:

I read with amazement of the action of the Football Conference in deciding the cancellation of Central's football game in memory and out of respect for the young football player who died during the practice.

It is my opinion that the designation of this unplayed game as a defeat for Central in the Conference records is indicative of absolute insensitivity on the part of the conference.

It is clear the cancellation of the game was an appropriate action allowing the entire school to learn about and express their grief and their respect for the tragedy which befell their colleague.

As a former Editor of the Criterion, I feel compelled to go on record expressing my shock and extreme displeasure with the action of the Conference.

Attorney Melvin B. Newman, also a former Editor of the Criterion and a 1934 graduate of Central joins me in expressing the above sentiments.
