Chariots A Fire! Riding Hilltoppers Roll

By Dione Smith and Richard Ijeh

The team of Central wheelchair athletes, the Riding Hilltoppers, came out as winners again competition in Glastonbury tournament. The competition included obstacle courses, tennis ball throwing and wheelchair athletics.

Gabriel Nunez, Adrian Nunez, Ralph Garcia, Joel Robles and Elliot Calderon made the event memorable and enjoyable. Teams came from Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey but they were no match for the Riding Hilltoppers.

Brothers Adrian and Gabriel Nunez placed 1st and 2nd in the obstacle course receptively. Gabriel, who said that his best event is the obstacle course, was pleased with the team's performance. "We did much better this year," he said.

"I've never been in the competition before, but I think it's good because it allows us to show how competitive we can be," said Ralph.

Joel, who has been in the program for two years, placed second in tennis ball throwing. "It was good competition. The team work was great and we did very well," he said.
