Untitled 2

You looked happy to see me today for the first time in a long time
When I passed you this morning.
Oh, you usually look happy to see me--
You're always happy to see people.
But this morning's smile held something more.
It reminded me of a time long ago
When we openly shared our lives with each other.
You were thrilled and surprised to see me.
Me. Not just "another acquaintance" who likes to talk to you.
A long-lost friend. A confidante. Someone special.
Someone who you would intentionally choose to be with
Because you enjoyed them specifically.
Amazing how much one momentary, involuntary expression says
And how beautiful it can make someone feel.
