I've always been into the ship since I was a child. My Great-grandmother saw her launch from Southampton that April. She also talked of Andrewsand I was upset that he had been forgotten. I've al o wrote a novel with him as one of the primary characters. How did you come to recieve so much info when I asked Harland & Wolffe, they didn't give me any any answers. Just before or just after he opens a clock face, and twiddles with the minute hand. The first time I thought he was just twidding. The second time I saw it. Andrews looked at his watch, and *corrected the time*. That floored me. Who would think to do that Thomas Andrews, that's who. You feel the devotion he had to accuracy. It is the first time I have seen a scientist/engineer given the proper literary and humanitarian treatment usually reserved to the likes of Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, MacBeth, Dicken's characters, etc. Snow's "two cultures" may yet come together. |
