Which one is your favorite?: the first: Outlander
Comments: I picked these books up several times and read the back and thought this are too far out!! I won't
enjoy this. Then two years ago Diana came to my little town on Vancouver Island to do a book signing. While I never
did get to meet her, I did finally go to the library and get our her book. I loved it. I then put myself on the months
long wait list for the rest of her books. I finally bought all four myself for Christmas this year and gave them to my
husband to wrap up for me. My mom gave the companio and I will now happily devour each book again. Outlander
for the third time.

Which one is your favorite?: Outlander
Comments: I really enjoyed the first book when it came out. One day at the bookstore I noticed the sequel
and bought it immediately. I have read the four novels all several times. Unfortunately, I don't think that the sequels
compare to the first. It seems like each novel decreases in excellence. On the other hand, I read voraciously and find
that even when DG isn't writing at top notch, it's still exceeds most other authors. I haven't bought Companion and
don't plan on it. Seems like a rip-off to publish som thing like this when the audience is more interested in having
a new story. I look forward to the sequels, but Companion has left a sour taste in my mouth.

days and got up the next morning after reading until 3:00 a.m. and went to the bookstore and bought the next two books, the last one I got from the library. I
took me three weeks to finish them all. They are great books. i also did not like the part when jamie beat Claire. Ilike the best the great dialougue between
Jamie and Claire. I do not think Jamie would have married , even if he wasn't sure if Claire was alive or not, that part is out of character for the Jamie I
was developing in my head.

Do you have a fav. quote?: "Who in God's name is John Wayne?" "You are."
Comments: Well, this may not be a very popular thing to do here, but I just finished _Outlander_, and I have to admit to mixed feelings. On one
hand, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Scottish culture and traditions through the eyes of a more modern character an I found the intrigue and
adventure Claire encountered fascinating. On the other hand, several things irritated me... Jamie beating Claire doesn't sit well with me, no matter how
much it's justified in the context of the time and Jamie's own upbringing. And maybe I'm just too cynical, but some of the dialogue during the sex scenes just
flat made me roll my eyes ("Aye, ride ye I will, Sassenach"??! Sorry, too much for me). And finally, I found Jack Randall's character to be a very offensive
stereotype so ften found in historical fiction - the evil homosexual. Don't get me wrong - I *really* enjoyed the book, but I just can't say I was 100% pleased
with everything. I particularly got into the parts about the witch trial, Lallybroch, and the wedding. And while some of the gooey romantic stuff annoyed
me, I did enjoy the banter between Jamie and Claire, as well as the whole unfolding of them getting to know each other.

Do you have a fav. quote?: Where Claire meets Jamie in Edinburgh
Comments: I have read and re-read these books at least 20 times - due to being incapacitated with several broken bones and/or separated from my
family whilst working away - they are as fresh and gripping at last reading as at first. Diana is the most inventive and rticulate author. Her narrative is
faultless and the characterisation is superb. She carries the banner for english writing into the 21st century, the future of the language is secured as long as
writers like this exist. I have e-mailed her separately and briefly (It's snowing in England) . Please pass on my congratulations on a truly inspired epic
beautifully executed. My favourite part is where Claire goes back and meets Jamie in the printers in Edinburgh - so touching, I cried and was happy all at
the same time! I have relatives in North Carolina who are on standby to send me the next book and the companion because I simply cannot wait until they are
published in England. Love to Diana, keep up the good (magnificent) work. Love also to her husband and children for the support which enables her to keep
going, their contribution should not be underestimated. Many thanks for years of pleasure. Carol Button, Yorkshire, England.
