I'm 26 today, and my birthday was one of the best ever. It started at 7:00 am Saturday and ended at 3 or 4 am Sunday. It included 2 celebrations, 2 birthday cakes, 11 friends and my family.

My sister Loyda's kitchen is famous for Arab food. My brother in law, Sergio Handal is of Palestinian descent. Every Saturday, we eat lunch together. On this occasion, we were joined by Sergio's brothers and sister, Javier, Gerardo, and Annette, together with their spouses, Karla, Katherine, and Mauro.

Lunch was an Arab feast. Salad was the entree, the main course was potatoes stuffed with ground beef, and a strange taco-shaped delicacy made with cabbage stuffed with meat. We had ice cream and a pecan pie for dessert, which doubled as a birthday cake.

My second birthday cake had a lower layer of chocolate, and an upper layer of vanilla, with rich condensed milk in between. I took it home, without knowing when I'd use it.

During the afternoon I worked on a MIDI version of Rich Mullins's song "Sing your Praise to the Lord". I'll post a link to it when it is finished.

All the people in my group got together and we hugged and they sung Happy Birthday. They are great bunch of people. We meet on Thursdays to reach out to our friends with the message of the gospel, and to provide a caring environment that encourages spiritual growth and maturity.

Carlos and Jenny invited me over to their house with a few friends. We talked, watched TV, (A Yanni concert and later, "The Gladiator" was on) ate, until midnight. After eating Ice Cream and cake, we all went home.

I walked home with Mario, one of my roommates. We arrived only to find Edwing, Allan, and Juan, friends of ours, soundly asleep in the living room. I was telling Mario that this was too unusual, it was too early. Just then they all jumped up, trying (unsuccessfully) to startle us.

After watching TV for a whole we went outside to play Basketball, Soccer, and a weird combination of volleyball, ping pong and basketball. It drizzled a bit, but we continued unfazed, except for me, who went inside for a while, but was too bored to stay.

The best thing about this birthday were the people around me, and the things we did together. That'll make it memorable.
