Our story begins on a hillside just out side of town in a time when darkness fell on the world and on the people's hearts. A war was ensuing, as many did at that time, one of great conflict for both the states and the self. A man and a woman are embracing tightly not only each other but also the love they share. As they pull back she looks at him as they wrap a red silk scarf around their joined wrists. They bend and thank the earth, and then raise and thank the skies, both for the love they have been given and the time they have and will share together. They have made a bond, an eternal pact with each other, that they will be together again; that no matter what happens in this war he is about to embark upon, that they will find each other once again and be reunited. For theirs is a true and lasting love.
He looks at her, as the men are coming up the hillside to take him to whatever his destiny may be, and kisses her firmly on the lips. "My Love I will return to you someday, never stop searching for me as I will not cease my search for you." With this they part, and he goes off to face a future unknown to him. Many years pass the war ends a year later still he has not come and so her search begins. She ventures out and away from the only home she has ever known in search of her long lost love.
She believes in him in their love and never ceases to look for him. Years after the war he is freed of the prison he has been kept in, finally able to come home to her. When he arrives he finds the house is deserted and she no where to be found. He is told that she has gone 3 years hence in search of him. And so he goes to seek her out, as she has never stopped searching for him. Always searching always in pursuit of their love they both continue to search for the other. Alas it is in vain until at last he finds her, though he has been to late in coming for she has past merely an hour before his approach. He falls to his knees in sorrow clutching her limp body in his arms and cries! His misery is so great; that he too falls to the hands of time and love lost while still clinging tightly to her being.
A boy and a girl it is the first dance of the summer and for them the first dance they will attend. He walks up to her nary saying a word merely raising his hand for her to take. They dance their first dance together and instantly fall for each other; both knowing the other is to be the one! The dance is done; their parents take them back to their homes. As the boy packs he cries that he has to move and swears he will return to the village when he is of age and ask for the girl's hand.
She, alone in her room vows to only dance with him forever after and longs for the next dance. Yet he does not come and so she waits. 18 years later she is still waiting and he has not come, still she has dance with no other since that fateful night. But he is on the road back to that town, back to her, walking proudly only a mile away he hears a noise like thunder as he looks up he sees a stampede of wild horses running toward him. He tries to move but he is not quick enough and so he is run over. He has not been killed but realized through the pain his legs and arms are broken just before he passes out. On his revival he finds he is in a medicine woman's tent. She asks him his name and he can not tell her. He realizes he has something important to do but does not know what it could be nor who he is and so they again do not find one another.
A woman is walking down the cobble stone path of her childhood fidgeting with the red silk scarf she has in her hands as it floats away she runs after it laughing when she finds it she finds it has attached itself to a young mans wrist and as she approaches it billows out toward her beckoning her. She thanks the man and they instantly feel they have met before and a connection between them is made. They spend the day together walking and learning of each other. For the next 2 weeks they meet on that same cobblestone road and walk together. Spending mostly all their time together as they learn more about the other and fall deeper for each other. They meet again on the cobble stone road and profess their love for each other with the intentions of the next day he asking her father for her hand.
The next day as they meet she tells him she may no longer see him. As she is about to leave her bright smile turns into a melancholiness he could not imagine her possessing she attempts to smile, a lone tear falls from her cheek, as she explains to him that her father has arranged a marriage for her, to save the family from ruin. She is to be wed within the week and forbidden to see him again. He attempts to see her but in vain for her family keeps her well hidden until the marriage, when her husband takes her far across the ocean to the new world to live. He searches for her traveling the seas but to no avail and dies alone, a broken man.
Two meet, briefly by chance, and feel an instant attraction for each other. Then are separated by obligation and distant yet never out of each other's thoughts. Months later they happen to meet again yet, she is already taken and ready to move within the year, to be with her chosen mate. She explains this to him yet cannot help but feel a pull toward him though not sure what it is. Quickly they become friends, both, with a sense of knowing each other before but from where?
Several times they are able to share brief moments together, though their common group, between her arrangements to go and see her chosen and packing for her long move. Intertwined in a circle of people together where they both spend great amounts of their time. As he falls for her more, she becomes more wary of him! Not letting him get too close, as this is the time of deceit in the world, more than any other. Yet, she cannot get passed this new but familiar feeling she has when she is with him one of warmth and of home.
She leaves to meet her mate and on her return she is more confused than ever. As she goes to tell "him" of her latest encounter with her chosen she feels a serge through her when their eyes finally meet again after so long of not seeing one another. Yet she knows this feeling is wrong for she has already chosen another and knows she should not feel this toward him, this new man in her life.
As they spend more time together the veil slowly begins to lift until at last it falls from across a crowded room by a chance meeting of the eyes. At that instant they both know the other, the one they have been searching for so long. Yet, they keep their knew found knowledge in silence. Later that evening as they walk they come upon a hill. Her red silk scarf billowing in the breeze, exscentuating the soft curves of her neck and shoulders as they reach the top of the hillside. She gazes up at him as it falls from her shoulders and wraps itself gently around their wrist. She looks at him and says; " I promised you I'd never stop searching, I've waited so long to find you again!" And with a tear in my eye I fell into his arms as the others were coming to get us both!
As I said at the beginning this is Our Story.
