Mockingbird

                GOD, WHEN FINALLY,
Spring breathes her fragrant exhalations,
over the hills and valley floor
you will find me wandering outdoors,
before the humpbacked mountain
that glows like a coal; where,
on the swollen, red flowing river,
a big bellied sail conceives
filled by a penetrating breeze.
A prisoner, recently released
from bleak Winter's cruel oppressions,
guided by faith and supported by fortitude,
spawned by adversity, heading toward
the peace and happiness that God's goodness
has given us; and, yet, much remains undone;
the truth that liberty must always be
jealously defended from new foes,
who threaten to bind our souls with gold chains:
help us God, to save our civil rights from the jaws
of hired wolves whose perverted faith is greed and power.

            BURIED BENEATH
Buried beneath the skull-cap smoke
tall new buildings crowd forward like forgetfulness
whose windows glint light like flashes of pain,
and where dessert crowds endlessly drift
shifting uneasy resumes whose uncertainty
becomes routine as the flitting shadows
who follow one about,
and so begins
the vertigous questions
of reiterative redundancies

that no one dares to ask
except a slandered sage
who with long hair
and beleaguered spouse...

Ah,
but, there I go again,
what I really meant to say is,
in the infinity
between two ticks of the clock,
I fashion my silence
into a ring for her finger:
to remind her of my love
when I'm far away.

    ENDURING SORROWS
This night, too, settles
in the basins of the hillsides-
raven down;
the wheel rolls towards
the blue sphered dawn.
The flowering trees
beyond the windows,
like garland ships, return.

Darling,
            my love
                        persists:

among life's transient joys
and enduring sorrows.

            AN INVOCATION
In the gray light of a Winter morning
I watch you walk towards our car:
and, approaching a smile brushes your face,
and I wonder, "How can she smile?"

Then, a grin crosses my face,
a mask of pain,
and I realize.  "Her smiling face
is like mine.  An invocation to the love inside.

        WINTER IN THE PARK
Water plays in puddles, on the great stone steps,
near the garden where, ridiculous and abandoned,
a solitary squirrel cuts capers across the grass.

Unblinking, the ascetic Sun descends,
hate blinded cyclopean eye, it stares disdainfully
past all mankind's insipid grandeur.

Enveloped in my obscurity, I futilely try
to out distance my melancholy,
as the Winter stalks
through twilight's lengthening shadows.

Frozen flowers are etched in ice,
just like your image is engraved in my heart.
A frost glazes the panes of my windows,
what a pity this beautiful wonderland is forgotten.

        BEWARE
Beware!  People who would hurt others,
you are really only hurting yourselves.

The person you meant to destroy
God has transformed into a mirror.

Now, nothing is there but a strange face,
spit on it if you dare, and spittle

dribbles off your face; and,
should you strike, at the image in the mirror,

you'll only harm yourself.
Man is both this and that.

And, God, who is pure light,
makes the mirror and places it

before you. For the face in the mirror,
whether ugly or beautiful, is you.

        RAIN
Rain, pelting my window
like a handful of gravel,
falls from lead gray skies.

The hinge of a gate
continually complains,
as an idiot wind
repeatedly bangs it
open and closed.

People, with their heads down,
and shoulders drawn up,
scurry between their
indifferent houses and cars-
oblivious to the stupidity
inherent in every moment:
everywhere.  Floating,
on a fatal ocean,
I glide them,
so many colorful, echoing shadows.

Wet and wrinkled
the gray afternoon
limps away muttering
to the descending night,
as its silently
folded into oblivion.
Its been raining all day.

    TO SIT AND DREAM
Dawn, outside
its gray and foggy,
how quiet everything is,
computer keys click,
crickets chirp,
here, in the interstice
between night and day
I'm warm and comfortable.
What joy-
to sit and dream!

     OUT OF THE ABYSS
Out of the abyss of the past
came a vision before me
of King Herod's glory and infamy,
and a mother and father and child-
Dad worked daily until,
with weary limbs, he'd return
home to Mom, who waited,
with raw hands from scrubbing
and tending their cherished dream
of a free tomorrow;

when, a proclamation came
that rent the air like thunder
and scaled the aching sky.
Parents uttered grievous cries
that pierced the empty blue
and penetrated beyond the stars
seeking some small measure of pity.
The echo has reverberated
for over 2,000 years unanswered -
and, while Herod sleeps unfeeling and unhearing,
today, other voices are giving rise to new cries.

SAN DIEGO PAY DAY
Resurrected
from eternity,
the devouring darkness
of the now empty
echoing halls,
will startle awake,
shattering
the glistening silence
and expose
their zealot souls.

Blasphemous
worshippers
of golden idols,
you strip
while dancing
to the throbbing
song of fire -

thrusting again,
with thwarted
explosive-traveling-phaluses,
at the sheared moment,
whose towering cliffs
yawn on infinity
and hurtle past
the school's
glazed eyed windows,
where frantic mothers
vainly clutch
at the anguish
that christens
their children's
cosmic dust
remains.

2 children were murdered at school in San Diego!  Guess who?!?

                                                                        RUMOR MILL
Rumor Mill believes that the radical right began its operations back in the early 80's during they Reagon and Bush administration.  In the beginning they would either murder without trial, or, utilizing the then new subliminal technology, set up to commit felonies the most wicked or generally hated citizens.  The rest of the people welcomed this and were very pleased and expressed their approbation.  But, after the junkies and coke freaks were dispatched, the radical right's greed increased and these tyrants, with their established license, murdered and set up [The next set of victims were the marijuana users, those who drank wine and beer thought that was fine.  Finally, the greed of the radical right grew to where they started targeting the wine and beer users, too.] both good and bad alike.  The radical right developed perverse pleasure in committing crimes, through others, like the sexual abuse of children and murder.  After becoming hardened to crime, in their arrogance, they derived great satisfaction in either corrupting or intimidating their fellow citizens.  Thus, has our nation, the "land of free and home of the brave", become reduced to a state of slavery devoid of legal safe guards and civil rights.  It has had to pay heavily for its previous foolish rejoicing.
Rumor Mill thinks that the 3 sets of murders recently reported within a 4 day period and within a limited region were the work of the radical right.  The radical right's implied contention that small amounts of marijuana cause murder is absurd.  Its like contending those who smoke cigarettes or drink coffee kill people.  To even suggest such a thing is to make oneself ridiculous.  Consider the fact that during the 60's and 70's 75% of the population tried 'pot'; and, obviously, murders didn't escalate.  Did president Bush, or vice president Quale, vice president Gore, or president Clinton kill anyone?  Did the judges, district attorneys and police officers who used small amounts of pot kill people?  Did the firemen, scientists, professors, engineers, and business managers who used marijuana murder anyone?  Obviously not.  The first thing this represents is the radical right's attempt to expand the people they target for murder.  Rather then run out of people to bust.  They wish to access a larger group of citizens between 5-10% of population because the 'hard' drug market is exhausted (½%).  The second thing this represents is that now the radical right is inducing citizens to smoke small amounts of marijuana; and, then they use that as a pretense to set them up in the previously mentioned ways.  Remember, according to what Rumor Mill believes, the radical right dominates all illegal drug trade in the US and monopolizes the heroin and cocaine trade throughout the world.
Rumor Mill believes that these three murders are particularly serious.  Two were gang related and represented the radical right's ongoing efforts of using gangs as conduits to harvest America's young people, by inducing them into committing violent crimes.  These murders would have net the radical right field agents $7,500 and $12,500 respectively of tax evaded revenue.  Today, kids are recruited, trained to engage in violence, and then set up to commit crimes, in the radical right dominated youth gangs.  The third murder has serious ramifications in another context.
Rumor Mill thinks that the third murder was caused for a variety of reasons.  First, the radical right needed a violent crime that was brutal to get public attention.  Dismembering with an ax certainly qualifies in that regard and meets their propaganda needs.  To overcome what people know to be true, that marijuana does not cause crime (its legalization was recommended by the American bar for years)  let alone murder, requires sensational stories for the radical right's propaganda machine.  The other two murders were equally violent; one was an execution style slaying of a wrong person; and, the other was the murder of 2 grandparents and a couple of teenagers, one a former cheer leader and the other her boy friend with gang ties who dealt small amounts of marijuana supplied by guess who.  Talk about stories designed for media.  But, back to the murder and mutilation case.  It is believed that 3 things motivated the radical right besides money.  First, the murder/victim was an aggressive and effective private investigator who worked for attorneys.  Some say he had, on previous cases as a result of his hard work, found info injurious that pertained to certain radical right legal proceedings.  And, he refused to back off.  So he was set up, in this case because he was honest and effective.  Second, he had a job in an area, investigating legal matters, which the radical right wishes to dominate.  He had a choice.  He could become corrupt and hypocritical, or, quit.  In other words he was denied the right to work at the job of his choice.  The effect on society is severe, PEOPLE WHO ENTER INTO LEGAL PROCEEDINGS THAT REQUIRE INVESTIGATION WILL NOT RECEIVE EQUAL REPRESENTATION IN A COURT OF LAW especially if it has anything to do with the radical right.  Attorneys will not be allowed to get the information necessary to defend their clients, and we will, as a society, be denied  legal safeguards, to protect ourselves and our loved ones.  Third, the man was abrasive and he was not LIKED by the radical right-so they set him up to use marijuana, which they induced him to smoke, and then used that as their pretense to subliminally induce him to commit the crime. What it means is that the radical right now causes murders to occur if they don't like someone.
The radical right have established a precedent and believe they have the right to dictate how others should live.  It escapes them that this is incompatible with a belief in either, equality, which is essential to Democracy ["We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal imbued by God with certain inalienable rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"] or, tolerance, which is essential to Christianity ["Do unto others as you would have done to you."] for who would not be allowed to live their lives according to reason and in ways which make them happy - to the extent it doesn't deny the same right to others.
Rumor Mill regrets to suggest that the radical right seems to have slipped further down the slippery slope of moral degeneration.  How can 3 murders reported in 4 days be caused by the same thing.  And, all of these murders are extremely sensational?  Statistically, this is impossible.  However, with the radical right we have witnessed several other inexplicable phenomenon, too.
Rumor Mill believes that today in America the radical right use children to excuse the wickedness they employ to control society.  The hold this self-serving belief in spite of setting children up in gangs and sexually abusing them.  Arguably, children are our greatest asset.  What we decide to do will effect them as well as everyone else.  Therefore, it seems prudent that before we proceed on any course of action we should ask two questions.  First, what is the nature of society we wish to live in?  Do we want to be happy and free, good and decent?  Or, do we want to be servile and hypocritical, corrupt and vice ridden?  Do we wish to see people murdered for disagreeing with others, knowing that people disagree all the time?  Do we wish to see people murdered because some one doesn't like them?  Do we want to see children sexually exploited and used as instruments of torture by parents for gain?  Do we wish to see people deliberately destabilized in an effort to destroy them?  Do we wish to see people starved into submission?  Do we want to see people not allowed to work at the job of their choice, worship God as they please and free to spend their leisure time as they wish?  Second, do the ends justify the means?  Can good come from wickedness?  And, what happens to those who are habituated to cruel and brutal behavior, while they deny them their civil rights?  Who among us will be safe?
It has been observed that neither power nor greed have ever been able to restrain themselves.  Our forefathers knew this and thus our Constitution was designed to protect our civil rights from abuses of power.  History is littered with the wreck of great nations who forgot.  What will be our fate?  Will we continue to realize that to be free, happy and prosperous we must respect the rights of others even those we don't agree with?  Will we still receive God's greatest gift: liberty?  The decision is ours!  The civil rights and fate of future generations is in our hands.
