Girls of Grace

Point of Grace

and Various artists

The ladies of Point of Grace are back with a praise and worship CD.  This is not your usual praise and worship CD as they have gathered together various female artists to join them.  The POG ladies offer three songs and women such as praise and worship veteran Christy Nockels, Jaci Velasquez, Rachael Lampa, and Joy Williams all offer tracks. Another interesting thing about this track is that there is not only a journal and devotional to go with it, the ladies of Point of Grace are leading several "Girls of Grace" conferences around the country.

The good thing is that some of the tracks are standout tracks that really do lead a person into a feeling of worship. Nichole Nordeman offers one of the best covers of "You Are My All in All" that has ever been done.  Same can be said for Out of Eden's version of "Every Move I Make". Christy Nockels (who is sorely missed from the most recent Passion CD) delivers another great praise and worship song.  Two of the best songs come at the end of the CD with Jaci Velasquez delivering "Trust in the Lord" which could easily make into praise and worship services around the country.  Joy Williams delivers with "Live to Worship" which could either be used during praise and worship time at church, a choir song, or a solo.

The problem lies with the fact that there is no cohesion or unity between the various songs on the CD. There is no flow on this CD from one song to another. It just sounds like 10 separate songs and not like one worship CD.  Another concern is that some of the songs are great songs, but they dont usher the listener into a sense of praise and worship. One example of this is the first track by Point of Grace.  Great song but it doesnt seem to fit on this praise and worship record.  Rachael Lampa's track "Promise My Prayers" is a great song, but it doesnt seem to usher the listener into the presence of God.

There are 7 great tracks on the CD as mentioned above (if you include Rachael Lampa's "Promise My Prayers" and Point of Grace's "My Heart is Set On You").  If you are looking for a praise and worship CD along the lines of Michael W. Smith's "Worship" CD, then this is not the CD for you. If you want a good compilation CD with some great songs, then I would definitely recommend this one.  If you are a fan of one of these artists and want to complete the collection then I would also recommend it.
