REVIEW |
It’s a pity All Star
United is misunderstood as a band. Even
on their debut album, they sound like seasoned veterans.
Several cuts off this album are excellent, including “Bright Red
Carpet”, which describes that fame and money won’t get you to heaven.
Much of the lyrical content is not to be taken literally, but
rather, it pokes fun at issues many of us would rather label as
“politically correct” or not. But
the true lesson to be learned from All Star United is that in Christianity
there is fun, that Jesus is all we need, and that life itself is to be
laughed at. The album features
layered guitars, keyboards, horns, and other percussion over the signature
male vocals of Ian Eskelin. There’s
even a hidden track by a guest pianist who sounds a lot like my old music
teacher from elementary school.

I’d give it 8 on a
scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high). Reviewed by: Erik J. Barlik
