Peering down at my puzzle,
I sit while you stand
there blathering
a lot of nothing about something.
Wearily I glance at the clock
hoping to retreat
to solitude.
Remembering foolishly,
I started just minutes ago.
Glancing around,
a tv blares
scores of football
while fans cheer from behind.
Sighing,
I give you a look
wishing you away
yet you continue
your incessant blather.
Excited forms
rush about
as they come and leave
and grouse about the weather.
Eager faces
stand before me
awaiting my services.
The phone
crying in its cradle
will not calm
until I pick it up.

The door opens wide
as he steps inside.
I notice his form
before me
as he caresses
my name
over his soft lips.
I glance up
into his
piercing
unbelievably
beautiful
blue eyes.
He drowns you
and everything else out
as his heart sings to me.

He apologizes for missing
our lunch date.
"I overslept" was his reason.
Smiling now,
I remember grumbling
what could have happened.
wondering why he'd ask,
if he planned on not coming.
"I was wondering what happened to you" I replied.
But you are here now, so that is all that matters whispers my heart.
His eyes flash
as he smiles gently
and promises to visit later.
"I have to get going now" he finishes
as the door sweeps behind him.

Lost in a haze,
I sit with a smile
playing upon my lips.
Your shadow towers over me,
once again
blathering a lot of nothing about something.
Eager eyes await my services.
The phones cries once again
awaiting to be picked up.
And I steal a peek
up at the clock,
noticing how time flew by
and I sigh.

"All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd."
