The seed of friendship
brings life to a flower,
symbolizing
love and understanding -
through the good times
and the bad.
As the days go by,
tentatively it grows;
first developing a bud of companionship,
then leaves of protection,
and a stem of support
to stand against the harsh winds of life.
One day
as the sun shines down upon the bud,
its petals begin to open;
and the flower of friendship
becomes a wondrous bloom,
reflecting the sun's light
on everyone.
All who saw
this flower of friendship
felt the love
that lived deep within its roots
as it stood steadfast
in its place
Until that day -
that day the clouds rolled in,
covering the sun,
causing confusion to the friendship flower.
As the sun disappeared,
the earth shook of discord
until the petals -
one by one -
tore and fell,
to the earth.
As the last petal fell,
the rains of sorrow and despair
washed over the hopeless stem
pinning it to the earth.
And as the rains pelted through the ground -
breaking the roots -
once the flower's foundation -
our friendship flower died.
