A Most Unusual Profession:
The Love Song of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Hyde extends a manicured hand.
He is a clean-limbed, smooth-jawed
ophidian. Who, with a wink
and a nod, may turn
from monster to man.

    Once in the Mall,
Hyde sheds his Victorian jacket.
He looks in every stall,
and scratches numbers in matchbooks.

Hyde has waited
and bided his time
while God has turned the wheel.
