I know these people. They're in business for themselves. they're free agents. I'm not so sure what they do now, but I'm pretty sure that they possess the following in the way of prior experience, or at least this is what they've told me.
He is a one-time millionaire playboy, an entrepreneur, a man-of-letters (and about town). He was also involved in some highly respectable, but unfortunately unprofitable, gold buying venture with a former, now deposed , middle eastern dictator. ("Hey, it seemed like a legit deal to me"). In addition to all the above, he is currently the executive -vice -president -in -charge -of -seafood (exact organization unspecified) and a member of the organized and disorganized union of something or other. Finally, somewhat to my dismay, he is an avid episitlist.

 She is a former agent of the United States Government, now retired, a cured agoraphobic, a sometimes spiritualist, an abductee (unspecified), certainly a victim of the grand conspiracy and the "registered" Tooth Fairy© (<--------this part is probably as true as true can be) she once told me with considerable conviction, and much to my dismay, That "you", meaning little old me, "could be in the CIA and not even know it." At the time, I considered this a threat to my life. I still do. Talk about your clear and present danger.

 This is why I don't read a lot of fiction anymore. At this point I'd like to reference my copyright notice just so anyone who reads this will know not to mess with me.
