EXPLANATION
This is obviously a late war, "coulda happened" scenario.
It has British units attacking German units all using late war armor so
if something gets hit, the outcome is very nearly a foregone conclusion.
But then the dice always have their way, don't they?
Example: A British Archer AT SP, with a
17 pdr gun
takes on a German King Tiger (see German Armor Table) at a range of 25 inches. The British player rolls a
62% (percentile dice). A Hit! It is determined from the
"Hit Table" that he hit the "Front Driver". The 17
pdr is a great gun but... at this range this gun can penetrate 120mm,
however the Tiger's Front Driver armor is a mere 230mm!! No
Damage! Two percentile dice are
rolled by the German player. The Brit survives as the German has rolled
"00" and BREAKS the gun!
The Brit fires again and gets the much sought after "01",
Critical Hit! The Tiger blows up! This is nearly what happened
in our game, except that the Tiger's gun did not break, just missed
the Archer because of a high roll and the Archer's -5 size modifier.
The player controlling the Archer did indeed throw the 01 however.
There is always a chance!
