Who Thinks of Death?

-Michael D. Strickland-

Does anyone think at 16 that they're going to die 8 years later?
More likely playing baseball or track in high school are the thoughts that would come to mind.
Who would think of high school then death later?
There are more tangible things to bind.

Hanging out with friends and family are fun things to do.
Not picking out urns, coffins, or headstones.
Doing homework and going to bed when the day is finally through.
Not thinking of images of death and the dead and other things shown.

Who dies at 24 before they really have a chance to live?
How can God allow the death of such a young man?
Such is our lives, like sand through a sieve.
It's all charted in God's perfect plan.

I am no one to question the plan of the Lord.
Though there are times I wish it would change.
To stop the scissors from cutting the cord.
Keeping loved ones here to remain.

We are God's children and people do die,
and while we are here we should live life, not a lie.
God may seem cruel and judgment poor,
but no one thinks of dying when they are twenty-four
