Oh, those Rockies!!!
Oh, Those Rockies!!!
Breathtaking panoramic views, everywhere you look! Snow-capped peaks jutting into the horizon. Canyons, mesas, scrub bushes, desert sands, red rock! All of these words describe the terrain of Colorado. In our visits we have seen much of the majesty that songs are written about and yet we see more each time we go. Many people think of Colorado and the ski country comes immediately to mind. There is so much more to Colorado than the ski slopes! We will always remember the Royal Gorge, not only because of the incredible view but because of the bridge and the work that went into it! We will long recall the gondola ride across the canyon. The ride down the side of the gorge was unforgetable, as well. Garden of the Gods is another part of Colorado that stands out. The color of the rock is startling and the rock formations leave a lasting impression on your mind. It is easy to understand where that name came from. Motoring through the mountains and feeling how small we are is thought-provoking. The sky seems endless and the mountains surround you with their strength. It is an experience unrivaled. The wild sheep we observed grazing on the mountainsides, along with the elk feeding in Estes Park near the Rocky Mountain National Park show us how well these animals have adjusted to man's presence. I just want to keep going back! There is more to see every time we go. If you ever have the opportunity to go to Colorado don't pass it up! 1
