a little about me

I was born August 24, 1979 in St. Louis, MO.

I lived there for three years, then moved to Arkansas, which I claim as my home. I always find it difficult to tell people exactly where I live, because, to be truthful, I don't exactly know. I live in north central Arkansas in Stone County. I went to school at Timbo High School (Timbo, AR) up through 10th grade, but my mailing address is nearby Leslie. I live in neither town. I live up the hill from Flag. But to be truthful, I have to say that I live out in the middle of the woods.

For my junior and senior years of high school, I lived at the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences, a public, somewhat selective, residential school in Hot Springs. It was quite a whirlwind experience. The atmosphere at ASMS is quite... umm... different from your normal high school. Shall we say stressful? But the teachers are very caring people and, I must admit, my two years there were well worth the effort.

Hot Springs is a beautiful place, so if you are looking for a vacation spot, it gets my endorsement. If you want a less touristy/more beautiful area, try north central Arkansas. Maybe some day I'll put up some pictures so you can be thoroughly convinced.

I am currently at Yale University in not-quite-as-scenic New Haven, CT. I was once planning to major in physics and/or mathematics but saw the light. Now it looks like just history, although I've discovered I like language and linguistics much better. Over the summer I learned Nahuatl in an 8-week course at Yale, which was pretty cool, if a bit unusual.

I love music (see my band's home page and am still trying after some four years to learn to play the guitar. My musical tastes range over pretty much all branches of music. My extremely tentative top ten album list may eventually be here. To find out more about what I think sucks and what doesn't, click here.

I occasionally like to cook; here are some recipes. They're all pretty good, some easier than others. Some are not there, but that's life.

I also love hockey, college basketball, and football. I was brought up on the Blues and Cardinals, and started following the Razorbacks slightly later. College hockey is also cool, but I wish Yale didn't suck lately.

Did you know that I love Harry Potter? Well, I do.

Ok, that's all for now.
