One of the most popular daytime soap operas of all time, Dark Shadows ran from 1966 to 1971. Two films (House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows) were produced based on the show. As well, it went into re-runs that are still being shown today. Fans still attend conventions dedicated to the show. And finally, the show made a short-term come-back in 1991 with an all new cast.
It's not surprising that a program this popular has had a considerable amount written about it. The following three books concentrate mainly on the original series and are loaded with information about the actors, characters they played, the sets, episodes, fan conventions, photographs, and more.
There are numerous interviews with actors, writers, producers and others involved with the series in all three books. This means that there is some overlap of information, but as different people were interviewed in the books, there is plenty of material in any one book not found in the other two. Many of the photos differ among the three books as well.
