Do you remember looking at magazines in 1989 and seeing tight stretch pants in colors such as hot pink, yellow, bright green, and orange? What about tube socks pulled up and scrunched down at the ankle? These were the styles of 10 years back, will they be back in the future? I think that people will finally feel free to wear what they like, Not what society says you should like.
All you see in the halls is sport clothes FUBU, Tommy, CK, Lugs, Pure Playaz and Puffy. In 2009 students will feel free to wear anything they like, without feeling bad. Students will be wearing different things, so individuality will be very big.
Butterflies, dragonflies and glitter will still be in. Students will be wearing them all over their bodies. Tattoos and body piercing will still be gracing the bodies of teens and parents will still hate it. Yet teenagers will still do what they enjoy.
Fashion styles come and go, but remember, they will always be back. This is proved by walking down the halls now, then going home and looking in old magazines to see what students wore in the 1980s.
As the years pass quickly by, teenagers will change everything from their hair styles and color, to places and types of body art.
Of course, there always is the small possibility that students in 2009 will be required to wear uniforms to Smith. It’s not likely, but places like New York and Chicago are already experimenting with such draconian dress codes in public schools.
The students of 2009 will wear clothing that mirrors the 1960s and ’70s. Free expression and individuality will be in.
