Origins of the Knights Templar
A history of the Knights Templar is available elsewhere. Briefly:
  • established in the late 11th century in Palestine
  • earned a reputation of trust
  • developed the modern system of banking
  • crushed by French King Philip the Fair & his puppet pope
  • continued in various places

    Scottish Tradition
    Some believe that the Knights Templar continued in Scotland after being crushed by the King of France for personal financial gain. Those sharing a Scottish heritage often maintain a number of Scottish connections, including study of Knights Templar.

    Types of Templar Organisations
    Two distinct types of Templar organisations model themselves on the Knights Templar that operated under Papal sanction from about 1190 to Friday, October 13th in 1306.
