I remember the man who made me feel safe

Who comforted me when I was scared

Who played with me and hugged me tight

And when I needed him.... he was there

He encourage me to play my sports

Taught me to hit and catch a ball

Encouraged me in my music too

And dusted me off when I would fall

He was there for me when I needed him

I loved him with all my heart

He comforted me and held me tight

And I thought we would never part

He balanced the bike as I learned to ride

Bought my first baseball glove

Taught me to drive with patience and calm

This man whom I did love

He took me to church to pray to God

Prayed with me at night

Played board games by candlelight during a storm

So I wasn't overtaken by fright

This is the man whose passing I grieve

For he has gone away

This is the man I will always love

I wish that he had stayed

He was there for me when I needed him

I loved him with all my heart

He comforted me and held me tight

And I thought we would never part.
