Chapter 10
The Big Kahuna
by Kate Traylor

After two hours of climbing on top of bakery after bakery, Iggy was sure that his claws were about to fall off. He was about to forget the whole thing and pay a visit to Schnookie the Poodle when he spotted one last bakery that he hadn't tried. It was a low, crumbling brownstone building, with a ledge around the top that blocked the roof from view.

Climbing up the wall of the building didn't take long. Loose bricks made it easy to find footholds. Iggy had just dropped from the ledge onto the roof when something dropped onto him. It felt like a brick, but he knew from the feathers that it was a pigeon. "Hey, you lizard!" squawked a tough-guy pigeon voice. "What're you doing, yo? This here's private property!"

"I'm here to see the Big Kahuna," Iggy managed to squeak out. The load on his back made speech difficult.

"Yeah? Well, he don't take no guests unnannounced."

"Pleee...please," said Iggy uncumfortably. I just want to ask-"

"I don't care! You either get your sorry self outta here, or you come through ME!"

Choices:

  1. Iggy climbs back down the roof and goes to interview the poodle.
  2. Iggy shakes the pigeon off of his back and prepares to fight.
