FOLLOWING THE MASTER

WHEN Jesus walked by Galilee and called the fishermen,
How long did they stop and think before they said “yes”
Who was the first one to go, did they know even then
That He was the Saviour, or was it a challenging guess?

Was it the way He beckoned, the way He called their name?
The way He looked at them as they worked that day,
The left their boats to follow Him, that their sacred aim,
Would I have dropped everything to follow Him that way?

How often does he say those words “Come and follow me.”
Are we like the apostles and obey what er’ the cost?
If I was asked to leave my home and on th e road always be,
Would I pause too long, and so my weak soul be lost.

I hope I would follow Jesus like the apostles of old,
For His voice I would want to follow anywhere,
Follow Him up to heaven and dwell within His fold,
See His face smiling at me, when I’m safely there.
