I’LL GO TO THE TEMPLE
It’s such a lovely day, I don’t think I’ll go to the temple,
but work in the garden instead,
There is all the weeding and thinning out to be done,
and I’ll fix the roof on the shed.
I’ll go next week, I’ll have that much more time then,
that will work out quite fine,
It will be good to go to the temple and do the work
for those dead ancestors of mine.
Wednesday is our temple night, but see how very hard
that cold wind does blow.
Look! It’s starting to rain, I hate driving in this weather,
maybe tonight I should not go.
I’ll go tomorrow night then the weather is alright
and the sun is shining bright.
But wait! That’s Mary’s dance class, I don’t have the car,
perhaps I can fit it in another night.
This next week I am so busy, so many things I have to do,
I will not have the time to spare
To visit the temple to do another persons work who waiting,
and be with the saints in there.
But Saturday night will be fine, it’s open until eight now,
we’ll go on a special temple date.
We’ll watch a little TV, then go and have a nice quiet meal,
oh dear, now it is too late.
The following week I was taken very ill, I am just
a little bit afraid in case I die,
I should have tried much harder to attend the temple,
not let opportunities pass ne by.
I promise that if I recover from this weakening sickness,
and become all well again,
I will go to the temple often, despite being busy or heavy rain
and I’ll never complain.
I’ll plan for myself and others who are waiting patiently
for their work to be done.
Yet my story will not be finished, this is a sad end,
for death to me has come.
