THE GOOD SHEPHERD
“The Good Shepherd” By William H Margetson
As Jesus is my Good Shepherd, why do I show fear?
I know that He loves me, often I have felt Him near,
His caring arms around my trembling form felt,
Known he has answered me as in prayer I knelt.
We are the lambs of His fold, we are His sheep,
His great love for us is eternal, strong and deep,
Everyone he would rescue as we wander away,
If we will let Him and His words wisely obey.
I really should not fear, but always be brave,
Because I know the Good Shepherd will save
A soul who loves Him, a sheep of His fold,
If I wander me, in His arms He will kindly hold.
Help me love the Good Shepherd, my beloved King,
Help me follow and into my life true joy bring,
Help me be a shepherd, help seek those who are lost,
Help me stay close to the fold whatever the cost.
For look at the Good Shepherd, bringing home the lamb,
The one who had wandered, and cried, “Hear I am.”
And Jesus came and found him, carried him home
Rejoicing, the lamb, never again wanting far to roam.
For if you have felt those loving arms around you,
Felt a true shepherd’s care, good you would want to do
So as not to hurt the Shepherd, for He loves you so,
So keep the Good Shepherd in your heart where’ re you go.
