CHRIST ORDAINING THE TWELVE
"Christ Ordaining the Twelve Apostles" by Harry Anderson

Look, all their eyes are closed, bowed, every humble head,
I wonder what words were spoken, what to each was said
By the Master on that day, when they gathered to pray.
If He laid His hands on my proud head what would he say?

Each apostle being blessed, must have had a special thought,
Many words of wisdom, gaining, a new way to be taught,
I wonder what He said to Judas? I wonder if both knew
What the apostle and friend would finally have to do?

I see in those heads bowed true reverence and deep love,
As they received eternal blessing from their God above,
Think of the strength and power bestowed by Jesus’ hand
So they could go out preaching across that barren land.

Now we have the Priesthood, the same that Jesus used
On those twelve apostles, brethren, let it not be misused,
For it is the power of God unto salvation on the earth,
And is of God’s gifts to us, deemed one of great worth.

Look at the face of Jesus as he ordained the friends,
It shines with love eternal, for true love never ends,
Be as clay, moulded to do the will of our Lord and King,
As we remember the life that eternal joy will bring.
