TURN HIM AWAY

How often does the Master call and we turn Him away?
So has to find another so the work will be done today,
How many chances do we miss to serve a sister or brother?
How many times have the blessing been given to another?

It may be something small, that would only take a short time,
Just a call, or a short letter home telling them you are fine,
Buy some extra groceries to give to the homeless throng,
Maybe that is all the Master needs, so we can’t go wrong.

An ancestor may have heard the gospel true and sweet,
Longs to progress onward, friends and loved ones meet,
The Master say, “”Come, there is so much work to be done,”
To tired to go to the temple, you sit in front of the television.

The Master says, “Prepare a lesson this week just in case,”
The Sunday School president approaches with a sad face,
“Could you teach a lesson, I have three sick people today.”
But you did not heed the promptings, so turn him away.

Most of us are willing to serve, most say we love the Lord,
Most want to make it to heaven, follow His precious word,
Yet we do not always answer when He calls us to serve,
And so we will gain the blessing that we truly deserve.
