A BURDEN
She was very old and very deaf and also nearly blind,
Yet she could still do things, was never a bind
To others, independent she always wanted to be,
“If I’m ever a burden, please take me home, set me free.”

The Lord sighed and thought, Do I answer her prayer?
Do I take her home so she causes no trouble or care?
He shook His head, NO, other folks need to grow,
He would take her when He knew it was her time to go.

A Comforting voice came to her as she sat in her chair,
Telling it’s not your time, in patience she had to bear
The trials and tribulations that old age would bring,
But when her time came, she would hear the angels sing.

She blessed all those that helped her, day after day,
She would always thank them, cheer them on their way,
Although she longed for home to be in heaven above,
But if God wanted her to stay, she would radiate His love.

Everyone loved her, she was a joy to serve and to know,
Many folks learned to serve from her on earth below,
One day she felt no pain, saw lights and did rejoice,
For she heard sweet singing from each angel voice.
She knew she was going home, God His promise kept,
For she did hear angels sing, for sheer joy she wept,
She hoped she could show them of her pure state of grace,
So as she died, the Lord put a perfect smile upon her face.
