SIMPLE OLD SONGS
Some simple melody with words that are sweet,
Bring memories flooding back, it brings a treat
To those who are lost in a world of their own,
A little act of kindness to the lonely shown,
Bringing back memories, lights up an old face,
Out of tune voices, singing at their own pace.
Tears of joy shine in once lifeless, sad eyes,
Dont stop they say, much to our surprise.
Scarlet Ribbons, Galway Bay and others too,
How Great Thou Art, sung all the way through,
I am sure those broken voices and mouthed words
Reached up to heaven and by a loving God heard.
We will return and play and sing again and share
A brief hour of time, and know angels will be there.
Some corner of a memory remembered in an old song
Will heal a pain or hurt that has been with them long.
Even if the piano is out of tune, the pianist not great
All those old folks join in and life start to celebrate.
