NEVER GIVE UP

Some people find it hard to accept a little smile,
Or a kindly deed, or to walk with them the extra mile,
They cannot understand a hand of friendship given,
They think there’s an ulterior motive somewhere hidden.

How can you help someone who always thinks that way?
Why did they do that? What will I have to do to repay?
I wish I could enter into a heart that is all closed up tight,
Show them a world of love and giving, a world of light.

One way is to keep trying by doing little kindly deeds,
Even if they do not respond, it may sow some seeds,
One day they smile back and speak, or come to realize
That people can just be friendly, now they’ve won a prize.

A prize that will heal them from deep within their heart,
Maybe long ago they were badly hurt and if we do our part,
We can help them be able to trust some people one day,
So never give up trying, keep going in the same old way.
