SACRIFICE.

Do we really have to sacrifice
For the gospel we hold dear?
The commandments we obey
All the time, year after year?

It is not a true sacrifice
Even if it causes us much pain,
For will we not in days to come
Hope eternal blessings to obtain.

A real sacrifice is giving
When there is no blessing in return,
But our sacrifice brings heavenly blessing
If they are well and bravely born.

I have a love of God and Jesus His son,
And will follow them the best I can,
I will keep the covenants I made
And will not be dissuaded by any man.

For I want to return to heaven above,
I want to meet my God and King
So whatever I have to suffer long,
Is not a sacrifice, for true joy it will bring.
