More poems about the Saviours birth

        I HEARD A BABY CRY
At last there was silence in the overcrowded inn,
Tired, travel weary guests ceased their noise and din,
But I could not sleep at all, I really could not tell why,
I wandered outside and then I heard a new baby cry.

There was a special feeling in the cool night air
As I walked to the sound from the stable over there,
Not a place you would expect to hear the sweet sound
Of a new born baby cry, just animals should be found.

Then the sky was illuminated almost as bright as day,
It looked like angels in the distance, I began to pray,
I was not afraid but there was reverence everywhere,
Who was in that animal stable by the wall over there?

They did not see me enter, or kneel near the sheep,
Then I saw mother, father, the new baby now asleep,
He was someone special, had Messiah come to earth,
Would He be born in a cattle shed Him of great worth?

Then came the shepherds and worshipped on bended knee,
They told them of the angels visit and singing company,
The Saviour in the stable wrapped in swaddling bands
They cried with joy, a young lamb, a gift in their hands.

I fell asleep on the straw, hidden away never ever seen,
But the Holy Family I knew, and I was glad I had been
Sleepless in the crowded inn on the wondrous night
When I heard a baby cry, the bringer of truth and light.
