More poems about The Saviour as a Teacher

WHAT WOULD HE HAVE ME DO?
How often do I ask the big question,
Lord, What would you have me do?
Don’t even bother to ask, just go on
Doing my own thing all day through.

Leaving Him out in the cold to stay,
Not keeping Him close to my heart,
Shun Him, send all His ideas far away,
Follow some uncaring earthly chart.

Lord, what would you have me do or say,
It is not always easy to do what is right,
No simple matter to follow Him every day,
Or strive always to be a shining bright light.

He would have us all to be thoughtful and kind,
Be loving to others and do many a goodly deed,
Turn the other cheek, learn not to really mind
If people cannot understand your great need.

Lord, I need to know what plan is laid out,
The one that I should follow to be with Thee,
I need to know deep inside, having no doubt
That I am listening and obeying and so be free.

I need Thy arms around me, I need to feel thy care,
Need to know as I strive Thou art close beside me,
I feel Thy arms of comfort, hear answers to prayer,
I pray now I’ll endure well until I am with Thee.
