WHAT DO I KNOW OF JESUS?
As I read the scriptures, and pray to understand,
What do I know of Jesus, who lived in another land,
Also lived in days gone by, things were so different then,
What do I know of Jesus, who lived among mortal men?
He was born in a stable, with the beasts all around,
Shepherds came to worship and there Him found,
Wise men came to visit this special new born child,
Saw Him with Joseph and His mother Mary mild.
I know He talked to the teachers, in the temple stayed,
Fasted forty days was tempted and to His Father prayed,
Did many a wondrous miracle, healing the sick and blind,
He never ever left a cruel or harsh words behind.
I know He taught and preached, set up the church so true,
Gave to His apostles authority to carry them through
All the trials and tribulations that would come their way,
As they followed in the steps of the Master every single day.
He suffered in Gethsemane, was tormented before he died
A cruel death on the cross, suffered more as His mother cried.
Then laid in a rich mans new tomb, and then He arose again,
Releasing us from death, and saved us from hells awful pain.
But this is not knowing Jesus, most people know all this,
Even know that He was betrayed by a friends mocking kiss,
I really want to know about Jesus enough to call Him friend,
For it is Him I want to be with, when my life comes to an end.
