IF YE LOVE ME.
How much do we truly love the Lord?
Enough to always keep His holy word?
If ye love me, my commandments keep,
This do from awaking until you sleep.

The command is quite simple and clear,
If we do this the Holy Spirit will be near,
Do we love Him enough to always obey,
Or do we want sometimes to turn away.

It’s not the big things that will lead us astray,
But the small ones that seem to get in our way,
We would not kill, rob a bank, commit adultery,
Yet do we read the scriptures or full tithe payer be?

Do we remember to pray at least twice a day,
Help our neighbours out in some small way,
Keep our thoughts all pure and free from sin,
Not let bad language into our sentences filter in?

It is these things that count all our lives through,
Satan may say it does not matter at all if you do
Little things wrong, he is then pointing the way
That may lead to our spiritual destruction one day.

How much do I love Jesus? I will try to do my best
To show my love in all things, then He will do the rest
As long as He knows I am trying, one day I will win,
And because I show I love Him, He’ll wash away my sin.
